Thomas Swords was nearing the peak of his career as he led the U.S. to victory over Sweden in the country’s first international since affiliating with FIFA. Swords played for Whittenton AC (Taunton, Mass.), Fall River Rovers, Philadelphia Hibernians and New Bedford Whalers.
