Aug. 17, 1929 – Boston Wonder Workers 1:3 Fall River Marksmen, Fenway Park

Hat trick for 20-year-old “Berty” Patenaude in ASL season-opener. “Whoever was responsible for outfitting Boston with light blue does not know much about the city. The Wonder Workers should be dressed in nice bright green shirts … Patenaude was the most improved player. Bert used to sport the colors of the Fall River seconds in the Massachusetts State League. He has a great chance to become a real star. Flanked by … White and McNab … Gonsalves and Goldie, and backed by Caldwell, it will be Patenaude’s own fault if he does not develop into one of the best goal-scoring center forwards in this country.” (George M. Collins/The Boston Globe)
