Sept. 24, 1924 – Thomas J. Dent named coach at Dartmouth College

Tommy Dent was a captain in the Black Watch Regiment that was gassed during World War I, and had moved to Hanover, N.H., as part of his recovery. Dent compiled a 143W-111L-22D record from 1924 to ’59 and also coached the Big Green lacrosse team. Dent was chairman of the New Hampshire Fish and Game Commission. Frank Dell'Apa

Frank Dell’Apa began covering soccer in the days of the original NASL. He was the Boston Globe’s soccer columnist for nearly 23 years before being recruited to work for a start-up television network in Miami. In late 2014, he returned to Boston, where he is based as a freelance journalist. Dell’Apa has covered seven World Cups, MLS since the league started, and continues to be involved with the NASL as part of a New York Cosmos Podcast.
