Eusebio scored twice for Benfica against Sporting in a rematch of the Taça de Portugal in a Sunday afternoon exhibition. Marinho’s penalty kick opened the scoring (6). Eusebio equalized (43) and broke the deadlock (80), then Fernando Peres converted (84).

Benfica had won the Liga Portuguesa, reached the semifinals (against Ajax) of the Champions Cup and defeated Sporting (2-1, on a 118th-minute Eusebio goal) for the Taça de Portugal on June 4, 1972.

Benfica has a 4W-1L-1D record and Sporting is 0W-2L-2D in Foxborough.

Norwood’s Angelo Bratsis refereed the July 16 game.
