Oct. 18, 2003 – NY/NJ MetroStars 1:2 Revolution at Giants Stadium (Att.: 18,649)

Post by

Dario Fabbro (15) and Pat Noonan (39) scored as the New England Revolution (11-9-9) clinched a plus-.500 regular-season record for the first time. This was also Matt Reis’ first victory as Revolution goalkeeper and the first of four successive matchups between the teams in four weeks – two to conclude the regular season and two playoff matches (the Revolution had a 3W-0L-1D mark).

Fabbro finished the rebound of a Brian Kamler shot and Noonan stripped Steve Jolley, then finished past Jonny Walker. Polish international Andrzej Juskowiak (75th) cut the deficit.

The Revolution concluded the regular season with a 6W-0L-1D run to finish 12-9-9 (45 points), overtaking the Bob Bradley-coached MetroStars for second place. The streak started with a 2-1 win over the MetroStars on two Noonan goals at Giants Stadium on Sept. 13, 2003. The Revolution, who lost strikers Chris Brown, Joe-Max Moore and leading scorer Taylor Twellman to late-season injuries, extended their unbeaten streak to nine games (7-0-2) before being eliminated by the Chicago Fire in the Eastern Conference final.
