Aug. 4, 2012 – Revolution 0:1 Sporting Kansas City

Teal Bunbury combined with Kei Kamara up front for Sporting, Bunbury’s 20th-minute goal making the difference as the Revolution played its first game since trading Shalrie Joseph to Chivas USA – coach Jay Heaps said he would not appoint a captain to replace Joseph for this match. This was also Seth Sinovic’s first game at Gillette Stadium since being waived by the Revolution in 2010. Sporting Kansas City went on to win the 2013 MLS Cup title.
